Joan Wanklyn (1924-1999)

Best known as a talented artist and illustrator. She illustrated a number of pony books, most notably some of the Punchbowl Farm series by Monica Edwards, and also some equine non-fiction. Her illustrations also accompanied many of the stories  and articles in various Pony Club and Pony Magazines and annuals.  But less well known is the fact that she also wrote some books herself. One was a book of drawings, the others were children's animal stories, one of which, unsurprisingly considering her main artistic subject, was a pony story.
